Roster Cutdown Day Rapid Reaction: Best New Available Players + Landing Spots

Image
With the pre-season over, the day we have waited a long time for has come. Teams are all officially down to the 53 man rosters that they will for the most part keep into week 1. However, with so many cuts and movement, things are not final. In the coming days, players will sign with new teams or head to practice squads. This was just the first step in all the madness. We are going to talk about some of the best players left available from cuts and realistic landing spots for these players. Cam Newton, Quarterback -  Cut by the Patriots The shocking cut of the day was undoubtedly Cam Newton. Everyone figured he would be their week 1 starter and beyond. Mac Jones, the rookie, impressed in the pre-season but many still believed he would sit and learn for a least a few weeks. That has appeared not to be the case. Newton was cut out of respect by the organization as they would rather him go pick his new team than sit on the bench behind Mac Jones. Newton is still just 32 and defi...

Seahawks 53 Man Roster Prediction

Image
With the pre-season officially over and the cutdown deadline looming large, we decided to make a 53 man roster prediction to see how accurate we could be. We picked the Seahawks to predict pretty randomly but also being from the Seattle area I do know a good amount more in detail about the Hawks than I do some other teams. This is just for fun and sort of an outlier article from covering the rest of the league. Here we go. Quarterback Roster: Russell Wilson, Geno Smith Cut: Sean Mannion This is probably the most obvious portion of the roster. No comment needed for Russell Wilson. Geno Smith was almost a roster lock before the pre-season but he especially helped his case with a great performance in the pre-season finale vs the Chargers. Sean Mannion showed he has potential as a backup and should be back with the Hawks on their practice squad. Running Back Roster: Chris Carson, Alex Collins, DeeJay Dallas, Travis Homer, Rashaad Penny, Nick Bellore (FB) Cut: Josh Johnson Penny This ...

Rookie Rankings Pre-Season Edition: What Top 5 Pick Falls Out of Top 10?

Image
Probably the best thing about each new NFL season is the rookies. There is so much hype and intrigue with some of the top new playmakers coming into our league each year. Today we are going to be ranking the top 20 rookies heading into week 1 of the season. We will update these rankings every few weeks so you will be able to see who is doing what. This first list going into the next one is going to see some major change as right now it is merely off projections and pre-season play but when the next list comes out we will have seen real life NFL games with rookies playing to determine these things. Here we go. 1. Trevor Lawrence, Quarterback, Jacksonville Jaguars While he hasn't been the best out of all the rookie QBs this pre-season, I don't think it will matter too much. You really can't determine much off of the pre-season and Lawrence is the best prospect we've seen in a decade, maybe more. He hasn't been amazing in the pre-season but at the same time he has no...

Best Players of Pre-Season Week 2: Saints New WR1?

Image
ONE WEEK TO GO! With the second of three pre-season weeks officially in the books, we will take a look back at it and the stars that made some names for themselves. Again, just one more week of pre-season until we are BACK with real life regular season NFL football! Let's get into this. Marquez Callaway, Wide Receiver, New Orleans Saints Statline: 5 receptions, 104 yards, 2 TDs receiving Marquez Callaway keeps trending upwards. Entering the off-season, Callaway was a bit of an afterthought on a Saints roster preparing for so much turnover. However, after the dust settled with all the off-season moves and then the injury to Michael Thomas, many found themselves learning the fact that this guy Callaway could open up the year as the Saints top dog in the receiving core. As we press closer and closer to the season, it is looking more and more that way. Callaway has gone from undrafted to a potential breakout star. He impressed throughout camp and played above average in preseason wee...

Mid-Round Fantasy LOVE List

Image
It's been a bit since we've released some fantasy football content on the site and with the pre-season in session and league drafts really happening from now to the September 9th regular season debut, what better time than now? Today we are going to give you some players in the mid-rounds of your drafts to target because the mid-rounds are really where leagues are won. Don't forget that Stefon Diggs was being drafted around pick 80 in most drafts last year and he finished as a top 5 WR in fantasy and won many people their leagues. Heck, he was even on the team that won my league's championship. After your first pick or two, there may not be obvious selections, this list should help you find targets for those tough spots. Keenan Allen, Wide Receiver, Los Angeles Chargers  Currently WR13 on ESPN PPR fantasy projections (Average Round: 2-4) The first guy on this list might not seem like a mid round value pick to some, but rounds 3-4 are really the beginning of the mid-ro...

Best Players of Pre-Season Week 1

Image
It's weird to be writing a recap of a week of football games. Football is back! Sort of at least! Week 1 of the pre-season has just wrapped up and we have now seen every team in the league at least once for the first time since the Winter. It is such an exciting time to be a football fan and we are just about 3 weeks from the Bucs and Cowboys on opening day. The pre-season is fun to watch for young players and guys trying to battle their way back into the league and onto a 53 man roster. Today we go through the players that made their name known through the first week of the pre-season.  Rhamondre Stevenson, Running Back, New England Patriots Statline: 10 carries, 127 yards rushing, 2 TDs The first player we want to mention is Patriots' rookie RB Rhamondre Stevenson out of Oklahoma. Stevenson was an impressive bruising back during his time at Oklahoma and was considered one of the best potential mid to late round RBs in this year's draft class. He is already showing that ...

Way-Too-Early 2021 NFL Awards Predictions

Image
With the start of the new NFL season officially under a month away and preseason beginning, we figured it would be a good time to release our 'Way Too Early' awards predictions for the 2021 season. This will be something to look back on and see how we did at the end of the year. We will also give a runner up and a third place for each award. We will start small and work our way up to MVP. Coach of the Year 3. Sean Payton, New Orleans Saints Coach of the year might honestly be the hardest award to predict because it usually doesn't even go to the coach of the best team in football. Sean Payton is usually in the running year in and year out due to his wild success with the Saints but I think he gets an especially good chance at the award in 2021 because I think even with all the roster change, the Saints will be a playoff team. Payton gets a ton of the credit. 2. Ron Rivera, Washington Football Team A previous winner of the award, Rivera I think has an amazing shot at winni...
