Week 8 NFL Game Picks: Who Takes TNF Heavyweight Fight? Bucs Fall in Division Standings?

Image
We are officially at half-way. After a slate of many blowouts last weekend, there are some matches this week that promise for close scores. Leading off this week is potentially the best TNF match of the season (Cardinals vs Packers), that game alone could go either way. Who wins that? And the other games? Week 7 Predictions Record: 9-4 2021 Season Overall: 69-38 Thursday Night Football - Green Bay Packers (6-1) at Arizona Cardinals (7-0) What a match-up. At this point in the season we rarely get a game between two teams with such great records. This game will prove to have massive playoff implications. The future NFC #1 seed could very well be on the line here. Both teams are banged up a bit coming in. Packers star WR Davante Adams will be out with COVID, that is a MASSIVE loss for Green Bay. Cardinals edge rusher JJ Watt will be out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury. This will be a shootout between two star QBs with little defense being played. It could go either...

Week 7 NFL Players of the Week: Rookie of the Decade?

Image
After a week where we felt that options for these awards were slim, suddenly there were tons of options for each spot and we now feel bad not being able to give multiple deserving players the awards. Let's get right into them. OFFENSIVE Player of the Week: Ja'Marr Chase, Wide Receiver, Cincinnati Bengals Statline: 8 receptions, 201 yards, 1 TD receiving The first rookie of the season to take home an overall player of the week award. It makes damn sense that it's Ja'Marr Chase of all players. He has been beyond unbelievable through the first 7 games of his NFL career and this was by far his best performance yet. In one of the biggest games in recent memory for the Bengals, with first place in the AFC North on the line, Chase was the brightest star on the field. To the tune of 201 yards, Chase torched the Ravens secondary from the opening kick. Marlon Humphrey was no match for the all-world rookie and even admitted that it was an awful game for himself afterwards. He...

Week 8 NFL Power Rankings: Bengals + Titans Soaring! Chiefs, Seahawks are Lost

Image
It's time to get into our week 8 edition of the NFL power rankings. There were a lot of good teams on bye this week but at the same time some big games were played with critical outcomes for the rest of the season. Who moves around after another week of NFL football? 1. Arizona Cardinals (7-0) Previously #1 No surprise here. The Cardinals won again as they stay the only unbeaten in the NFL. It was ugly early on vs the Texans but then this team pulled away just like we all expected. The Cardinals look for real, but a Thursday night battle against Green Bay in just a few days will tell us so much about the Cardinals' postseason run aspirations. 2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-1) Previously #4  + A second-straight blowout victory for the Buccaneers. Tom Brady has just been on FIRE these past three weeks as he has 12 TD passes to just 1 INT. The Bucs are again, rolling, and look like they are ready to make another deep playoff run come the Winter. The story of this game was their def...

Best Newcomers on NFL Teams in 2021 so far

Image
With the NFL season over a quarter of the way through, we figured it would be good to give a kind of update on some players making huge impacts on their new teams. Today, we get into the best players that are in year 1 on a new team. Guys that are the reasons their teams are breaking out maybe for example or just having the best season of their careers. Whether it was through FA or trade, we outline some of the best players in new colors. Emmanuel Sanders, Wide Receiver, Buffalo Bills Statline: 24 receptions, 413 yards, 4 TDs receiving After a lackluster season with New Orleans in 2020, many thought that the veteran Sanders may be well past his prime. He hit free agency with not much momentum or teams willing to come offering big money to the 34-year-old. The Bills did. It has paid off so big for them so far. Sanders is enjoying an amazing start to the season as he and star QB Josh Allen have had instant chemistry and have been hooking up time and time again in this early season....

Week 7 NFL Game Picks: Titans Keep Rolling! Who Takes First-Place Battle in AFC North?

As the season really is getting into it's heart, the games each week get more and more important. Last week was really a good beginning to sort out teams with playoff/super bowl hopes, and teams that are playing for draft position in the off-season. This week those determinations become even more intensified. We have another slate of games to predict. Week 6 Predictions Record: 8-6 2021 Season Overall: 60-34 Thursday Night Football - Denver Broncos (3-3) at Cleveland Browns (3-3) Such an interesting TNF matchup. At full strength or even close to it at all, the Browns would he heavy favorites. However, they are down over 6 starters including QB Baker Mayfield and RBs 1 and 2 Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. Those are just a few names to consider among other injuries. Case Keenum will be starting Thursday Night for Cleveland. As bad as Denver has looked over the past few weeks, they are playing a lineup of many backups with not much NFL playing time in recent years. I think it will be c...

Week 6 NFL Players of the Week: All Hail the King!

Image
This was a crazy week for star performers in the NFL. Tons of big names had noteworthy performances in a crucial week of games for teams' playoff outlooks for the remainder of the season. Obviously, we have our players of the week to get into! DEFENSIVE Player of the Week: TJ Watt, Edge Rusher, Pittsburgh Steelers Statline: 2 sacks, game winning FF in OT, 7 combined tackles This was a crazy week for single game defensive performances. Alongside Watt, there were two guys who made really strong pushes to take home these honors (Jeffrey Simmons & Maxx Crosby) but Watt gets the nod in the end. He is an anomaly in the fact that a player being paid as much as he is actually being worth it. It is also rare that a single defensive player singlehandedly wins a game for a team. Both are true for Watt. He could not be stopped on Sunday Night. He was in on everything, pressuring backup QB Geno Smith and harassing him more and more as the game went on. Late in the 4th quarter, Watt sacked...

Week 7 NFL Power Rankings: Ravens and Raiders Soar! Browns, Bills Slide

Image
The week of blowouts in NFL football! At least in the early window of games on Sunday, we saw blowout after blowout and then there were some close games sprinkled in throughout the rest of the day. The top teams in the league seem to keep winning while the mid-tier teams continue to beat each other just when you think they are getting hot. Without further explanation, let's get into the ranks for week 7! 1. Arizona Cardinals (6-0) Previously #2 + It seems like there's no way to beat this team. They faced a lot of uncertainty on Sunday as they traveled to Cleveland without their head coach and playcaller Kliff Kingsbury (COVID) to face a Super Bowl contending Browns team. It was no issue at all. The Cardinals got out to a hot start in the game just like they have all season and didn't look back. This defense is really stepping up with JJ Watt leading the way in this one. The first half of this season has been all Cardinals and Kyler Murray is threatening to run away with t...
