Week 10 NFL Game Picks: Wilson vs Rodgers Pt. 9! Pats over Browns?
My overall season record took a big hit again last weekend with the multitude of upsets that we saw. Despite doing so badly last week, we have to continue. This week is set to give us another slate of great games including many with major playoff implications at the moment. We have reached week 10 just like that and before we know it, the playoffs will be here!
Week 9 Predictions Record: 7-7
2021 Season Overall: 83-53
Thursday Night Football - Baltimore Ravens (6-2) at Miami Dolphins (2-7)
Pretty bad way to start off the week. I don't get why NFL can't flex certain games out of TNF and MNF because this one does not have much intrigue at all. The Ravens are a great team right now and we saw that last week in the gritty OT win vs the Vikings. They head to Miami to face the Dolphins who are coming off an ugly win over the terrible Texans. To make matters worse for the already major underdog Fins' is the fact that Jacoby Brissett will have to start for them at QB once again with Tua Tagovailoa out with a finger injury. This one will not be close, expect the Ravens to run wild against Miami's poor run defense.
The Pick: Ravens 33, Dolphins 24
Cleveland Browns (5-4) at New England Patriots (5-4)
Now this is more like it. What a game for potential playoff positioning. The winner of this game will be an amazing spot to make the post-season while the loser will fall to a tough spot. This game really could go either way right now with the way both sides are playing. The Browns have been very up and down while the Patriots appear to be hitting their stride after back-to-back very impressive wins. I'm having a tough time deciding who wins this one genuinely. Both teams starting RBs (Chubb and Damien Harris) may not play in this one, a lot will depend on whether they do or not. In a close, running, defensive football game, I've got Cleveland by a hair...
The Pick: Browns 24, Patriots 21
New Orleans Saints (5-3) at Tennessee Titans (7-2)
If Jameis Winston was healthy, this game could have been super entertaining. Sadly, that isn't the case and it will be the white-hot Titans going up against a Trevor Siemian lead Saints team. The Saints lost a crusher at home last weekend to the Falcons and are in danger of dropping a second-straight as now RB Alvin Kamara's status is in question. Whether or not he plays, it won't change the fact that the Titans are surging right now. Even without Derrick Henry, this team has been able to adapt thus far and it should continue against a Saints defense that is mainly equipped for stopping the run and not the deep ball vs AJ Brown and Julio Jones. This could be close, but I have Titans either way.
The Pick: Titans 28, Saints 20
Buffalo Bills (5-3) at New York Jets (2-6)
Suddenly there is some intrigue with this game. The Bills are not looking too great right now after losing 2 of their last 3 including the absolute joke of a performance they had last time out. They will hope this can be a get right game but it may not be as the Jets are finding their footing and hope to pull off a big upset at home with Mike White back under center. I am buying it. I think this has potential to be a trap game for the Bills and it will be super close. Let me rephrase...I'm buying that it will be close, but I still have Buffalo taking the win to avenge their poor performances of late.
The Pick: Bills 23, Jets 17
Detroit Lions (0-8) at Pittsburgh Steelers (5-3)
Until they win one, I'm not going to spend real time talking about Lions' games. The Steelers are doing well right and get the treat of being at home for this one too. It will not be close. Najee Harris time.
The Pick: Steelers 27, Lions 7
Jacksonville Jaguars (2-6) at Indianapolis Colts (4-5)
As fun as it was to see the Jags pull off the stunner last week vs Buffalo, this is an amazing opportunity for the Colts to get to .500 for the first time this season. Right now, the Colts are just finding their way. Carson Wentz is adapting to the offense and looking really comfortable. Jonathan Taylor may be the best RB in football right now. Michael Pittman Jr. has become a true WR1. And this defense is looking more and more like the top 3 unit they were last season. The Jags maybe can bottle up some of last week's magic and carry it over to this week, but I'm not buyin it, Colts win.
The Pick: Colts 31, Jaguars 24
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-2) at Washington Football Team (2-6)
The wildcard rematch from last season! Out of all the great teams that the Bucs ran into during their playoff run, the Washington Football Team somehow was the squad to play them the closest. Fast forward to now, things do not look like they will be the same. The Bucs have stayed as one of the best teams in the league while Washington has imploded. Does playing against the Bucs again give Taylor Heinicke some swag back? Probably not, healthy Bucs take this one with ease.
The Pick: Buccaneers 31, WFT 17
Atlanta Falcons (4-4) at Dallas Cowboys (6-2)
The Pick: Cowboys 34, Falcons 25
Carolina Panthers (4-5) at Arizona Cardinals (8-1)
This likely won't be a backup QB battle as Kyler Murray is expected to return for this one after missing last weekend's match against the Niners. For the Panthers though, it will be PJ Walker making his first start of the year with Sam Darnold out for significant time. Not going to talk much around this one, the Cardinals have it in the bag. They are going to have Murray back and likely DeAndre Hopkins as well. RB James Conner has been killing it for them as well and he will have the lead role to himself with Chase Edmonds out. If PJ Walker balls out, maybe this one is close, but with this Cardinals defense, that isn't likely.
The Pick: Cardinals 36, Panthers 21
Minnesota Vikings (3-5) at Los Angeles Chargers (5-3)
An underrated game here. Both of these teams are fun to watch any given Sunday and both play in a lot of close games. This one shouldn't be any different. Both squads have really good offenses paired with defenses that are talented but underperforming. The Chargers seem like the obvious better team at their best, especially with the MVP candidate that is Justin Herbert, but Minnesota feels like they could win this game too. This could be a potential OT game and could go either way, but I have to take the Bolts here.
The Pick: Chargers 28, Vikings 27
Philadelphia Eagles (3-6) at Denver Broncos (5-4)
What a refreshing performance Denver put on last Sunday against the Cowboys. Them losing badly was getting old and they finally delivered an all around performance. If it had been a close win, I'd take Philly here just because I love Jalen Hurts and think he can win them some games singlehandedly if used right, but the Broncos won so convincingly against such a good Dallas team last weekend that I just can't pick against them now. Their defense (led by Jonathon Cooper off the edge) should make life difficult for Nick Sirianni's offense all day long.
The Pick: Broncos 26, Eagles 22
JK Game of the Week: Seattle Seahawks (3-5) at Green Bay Packers (7-2)
The Pick: Seahawks 28, Packers 26
Sunday Night Football - Kansas City Chiefs (5-4) at Las Vegas Raiders (5-3)
*Yawn* the Chiefs are on primetime again. It should be a crime how much they get to play under the bright lights. They just aren't fun to watch this year. The Chiefs got super lucky to face the Packers without Aaron Rodgers last weekend and get a win that they needed so desperately. There isn't any time to celebrate now as they head to Vegas to take on the Raiders who currently sit ahead of them in the standings for the AFC West. A win would be a game-changer for the Chiefs. The Raiders don't intend on letting that happen. Despite losing a terrible upset to the Giants in week 9, the Raiders feel mature and battle tested to me. Derek Carr will be on a mission and I think this is a big Maxx Crosby game on the defensive side. This could be a thriller, but give me the Raiders in what some might call an upset over the overrated Chiefs.
The Pick: Raiders 27, Chiefs 24
Monday Night Football - Los Angeles Rams (7-2) at San Fransisco 49ers (3-5)
The Pick: Niners 29, Rams 27
