Best Game of Every Week of 2022: Schedule Release '22

The official schedule for the 2022-23 NFL season is here! Within the past few hours the schedule has been released and we now know when everyone is playing everyone and when! There are some huge games every single week. Today we will name the best match-up for each week of the 18 game regular season! We did this same thing last off-season. Week 1 starts off with a bang...

Week 1: Buffalo Bills @ Los Angeles Rams (Thursday Night Football)        AND
Denver Broncos @ Seattle Seahawks (Monday Night Football)

BUFxLA: Week 1 gave us so many great options right off the bat that I had to go with a literal TIE! I'm going to limit myself to just one of these, but I seriously couldn't leave either of these amazing games off the spotlight here. Starting out with the NFL kickoff game, it could not get any better. The NFL has done a great job over the last few seasons with putting an awesome game to start the season out with a bang. Here it is again. The Bills and Rams are my no. 1 and 2 teams in the power rankings we released earlier this week and they open up the season facing one another. We will get the defending champs hoisting their title flag in front of all of LA while the title hungry Bills come to town and try and ruin the moment. Josh Allen vs Matt Stafford. Jalen Ramsey on Stefon Diggs. Aaron Donald vs the Bills offensive line. This is going to be so great and it could go either way. Give me the Bills right now!

DENxSEA: We start week 1 off with a bang and we end it with a bang as well. The NFL did not want to waste any time for this game to be played. Many marked the fact that Russell Wilson would be traveling to Seattle to face his former team this season, but now we get it week 1! This is going to be a crazy one. One of the best QBs in NFL history playing his FIRST game on a new team AGAINST his old team in his old stadium. There is going to be a lot of emotion in that game but I know one thing for sure, week 1, home night game, the 12s are going to be LOUD. I would not be shocked if the jittery Russell Wilson and his new look team dropped this one to the Seahawks who have no expectations of them. This is gonna be a fun one.
Week 1 Honorable Mentions: Packers @ Vikings, Raiders @ Chargers, Bucs @ Cowboys

Week 2: Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints (Sunday 1 pm ET)

After many INSANE game options in week 1, there aren't any of the same magnitude in week 2, but some very solid options. In a close race, we gave the nod to Saints/Bucs. One of the best division rivalries in football is between these two teams. Lately while the Bucs have been the better team on paper, the Saints have always found ways to beat them. In Brady's first season with Tampa we saw the Saints embarrass them twice in the regular season before Tampa beat them in the playoffs. Last season we saw the Saints as big underdogs in both games vs Brady and the Bucs and they still won twice again. I think the Saints will be a playoff team this season so they will be real competition for the Bucs with a big play offense and a stifling defense. I think the Saints could stun them again with an early season upset that paves the way for an incredible NFC South race down the stretch. Can't wait for this game, it's mad underrated!
Week 2 Honorable Mentions: Chargers @ Chiefs, Bengals @ Cowboys, Titans @ Bills

Week 3: Green Bay Packers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Sunday 4:25 pm ET)

Week 3 had a lot of great matches, but none top this one. I'm not sure why this is not a primetime game but it's going to have the eyes of the nation on it. Whenever Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers have gone at it, it's been huge. The stakes only add to it as the Bucs shocked the Packers when they met two seasons ago in the NFC title game at Lambeau. Rodgers and the Pack have not been the same since that loss and they will be ready to avenge it. These are two of the greatest QBs of All-Time going at it for potentially the last time (you never know). Both of their teams are also tops amongst the NFC and so this game should have big early season playoff implications. Can't wait to watch these two squads go at it again!
Week 3 Honorable Mentions: Eagles @ Commanders, Chiefs @ Colts

Week 4: Kansas City Chiefs @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Sunday Night Football)

Back-to-back weeks with Tampa Bay's game on top. How can you not with this one?! This will be one of the best games of the entire season. The Super Bowl rematch from the game two years ago. No one had Tampa winning that and they did with ease. The Chiefs have not recovered since and Mahomes is going to be hungry to take on Brady again. In terms of match-ups with storylines, this was one of the best in Super Bowl history and now we get to see them square off again two years later for the first time since that night. Both teams are very similar to what they were then. This is going to be fun.
Week 4 Honorable Mentions: Vikings vs. Saints (LONDON), Titans @ Colts, Bills @ Ravens

Week 5: Las Vegas Raiders @ Kansas City Chiefs (Monday Night Football)

Now more Chiefs! That's what having the most talented QB in the NFL will do for you. These division rivals have split the season series more times than you would think in recent years. The Raiders have had the Chiefs' number at times. Now things get interesting. The Raiders are a damn good football team right now that has a real chance to win the AFC West (the best division in football). They will come into Kansas City with new hunger along with new weapons (Davante Adams at WR and Chandler Jones off the edge). Carr to Adams is set to light the league on fire and they should test a porous KC secondary all night long. This could be an instant classic shootout with obvious division and playoff implications. And it's primetime!
Week 5 Honorable Mentions: Colts @ Broncos, Cowboys @ Rams, Bengals @ Ravens

Week 6: Buffalo Bills @ Kansas City Chiefs (Sunday 4:25 pm ET)

Look, I'm TRYING to switch up the teams on here, but we have to be honest about the best games each week. When these same best teams keep getting good match-ups, they are going to get the spotlight. This game might be one of the most anticipated of the entire season. These two teams are becoming big-time non-divisional rivals. They seem to play one another every season and it's so even. We all know how the last game ended. The divisional round of the 2021 playoffs and the Chiefs stunned the Bills the a shootout of all shootouts, tying the game with just 15 seconds to do so and then walking it off in OT to move on. Now they meet for the first time since. That loss has haunted the Bills and especially Josh Allen who left it all out on the field. There is going to be a certain fire about this game as it will also have huge AFC playoff implications. I don't know why this isn't a primetime game @NFL??
Week 6 Honorable Mentions: Cowboys @ Eagles, Broncos @ Chargers

Week 7: Cleveland Browns @ Baltimore Ravens (Sunday 1 pm ET)

Some new blood finally! While this isn't a primetime game, it's always great when these two division rivals go at it. The AFC North should be a grueling division once again this year, and these two matches between these franchises are going to go a long way towards deciding it. It's hard to say how fun the Browns will be to watch at the current moment with a potential looming Deshaun Watson suspension, but for now we will operate under the belief that he is playing which makes this game must-see TV. Watson vs Lamar Jackson, two of the games most electric young and mobile QBs. The Ravens will be at full health (hopefully) and deeper than ever while the Browns are all-in under Watson and could be one of the best teams in football with him. Two stout defenses and profound run games will be featured in this one as well. I'll be watchin' this game, especially in a week lacking an true blockbuster events.
Week 7 Honorable Mentions: Colts @ Titans, Chiefs @ 49ers

Week 8: San Francisco 49ers @ Los Angeles Rams (Sunday 4:25 pm ET)      AND
Washington Commanders @ Indianapolis Colts (Sunday 4:25 pm ET)

SFxLAR: Oh man, space out the good games a little better sometimes NFL! This is a loaded slate of games in week 8 and it was an impossible decision here. I had to break my rule and give one more AND for this week. These two major division rivals facing one another for the first time since that crazy NFC title game. The tensions will be high and the importance of this game for the NFC West will be massive. Trey Lance will likely be under center and dipping his feet in the rivalry for the very first time. This is going to be a fun one and close as always.

WASxIND: While you might look at the Washington @ Indy game and not think much of it, this is a great game that is worthy of getting this spotlight honor for the week. Carson Wentz REVENGE! The Colts literally ran Wentz out of town and now he takes the helm of Washington who looks to try and make the playoffs again under his leadership. They will be very good. The Colts replaced Wentz with the former MVP Matt Ryan who too should have them with a great chance to make the post-season. The real storyline here is the return of Wentz to Indy where he was so rudely kicked out, but these are two really good teams with awesome supporting casts going at it as well. Both of our top games for week 8 will be happening at the same time so get your remote charged and ready, you will have some channel switching to be doing!
Week 8 Honorable Mentions: Broncos *@* Jaguars (LONDON), Packers @ Bills, Bengals @ Browns

Week 9: Los Angeles Rams @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Sunday 4:25 pm ET)

Why isn't this a primetime game? Two of the best NFC teams (also the past two SB champs) going at it again. The Rams sent the Bucs home in a shootout in the 2021 NFL playoffs and now Tom Brady will be looking for revenge. The stars will be OUT for this one. Brady, Fournette, Evans, White, and more for the Bucs vs. Stafford, Kupp, Robinson, Donald, Ramsey and co for the Rams. This game did not disappoint one bit in the post-season, and now at about the mid-point of the 2022 season, it should hold a ton of playoff seeding importance as well. TB12 will not lose again to these Rams.
Week 9 Honorable Mentions: Titans @ Chiefs, Colts @ Patriots

Week 10: Dallas Cowboys @ Green Bay Packers (Sunday 4:25 pm ET)

Another non-divisional huge rivalry in the NFL. The Packers and Cowboys have been each others rivals for years now it feels like, with every match just adding to that. We all know the infamous Dez Bryant "catch" playoff game a few years back and then the Packers also went into Jerryworld and took down the 1 seeded Cowboys in the divisional round a few years later. This rivalry got all the more interesting when former Packers' HC Mike McCarthy became the Cowboy HC and now returns to Lambeau to face his former team and QB for the first time. All the tension, all the storylines, but also two of the best teams in the NFC. At this point in the season this game will be a shootout for big playoff seeding implications. Dak Prescott vs Aaron Rodgers is also a dreamy QB match-up.
Week 10 Honorable Mentions: Seahawks vs Bucs (GERMANY), Cardinals @ Rams

Week 11: Las Vegas Raiders @ Denver Broncos (Sunday 4:05 pm ET)

More division rivalries! This one has a new look to it. Russell Wilson and Nathaniel Hackett's Broncos take on the now Davante Adams led Raiders. Both of these teams are going to be very good and vying for the top spot in that loaded division and so this game will be quite important in that race. At Mile High this game is going to have everything from high QB play, stout defense, top end pass rushers, and a lot of receiving yards. I'm excited for some Wilson vs. Carr action.
Week 11 Honorable Mentions: Browns @ Bills, Chiefs @ Chargers, Cowboys @ Vikings

Week 12: Los Angeles Rams @ Kansas City Chiefs (Sunday 4:25 pm ET)

It's funny. It really feels like I'm cycling through the same 4-5 teams just playing each other. Nonetheless, another awesome match up between two of the best teams in the sport. These teams have been linked to one another ever since that expect MNF game for the ages a few years back that saw both teams score 40+ and the Rams to win at the very end. While I'm not sure we will see that again with the great LA defense and the less explosive looking Chiefs offense without Tyreek Hill, this is still going to be a wildly entertaining game with a lot offense between the two big armed QBs in Mahomes and Stafford. Potential Super Bowl preview in week 12. I'm also always down for Patrick Mahomes vs Aaron Donald; two of the best football players ever.
Week 12 Honorable Mentions: Bengals @ Titans, Bucs @ Browns, Packers @ Eagles

Week 13: Kansas City Chiefs @ Cincinnati Bengals (Sunday 4:25 pm ET)

The recycling continues. If this is telling you anything, it's that these top teams all have quite the gauntlet to face this season. This is must-watch TV here that should have gotten a primetime slot. We witnessed two amazing games between these two franchises last season, both ending with Bengals come from behind wins in epic fashion. Joe Burrow and his Bengals have only gotten better, and a lot better with that, during this off-season. The Chiefs will be looking for some big revenge after losing to them in the AFC title game. This game will have everything, including a lot of offense and will probably come down to whoever can get the key stop at the end of the game.
Week 13 Honorable Mentions: Saints @ Buccaneers, Seahawks @ Rams, Bills @ Patriots

Week 14: Kansas City Chiefs @ Denver Broncos (Sunday Night Football)

Russell Wilson and Patrick Mahome square off for the first time inside of their division under the bright lights of Sunday night football! While every team in the AFC West is so evenly matched, these two teams may be the closest. Wilson and Mahomes have only faced one another just once in their careers and it was a Wilson/Seahawks upset win on SNF that was one of the better games I've seen over the past 5 seasons. Now add all of the divisional implications in the loaded AFC West and things just got even better. This rivalry feels like it is about to take full swing and I can't wait to see how this game (and the other one) plays out.
Week 14 Honorable Mentions: Raiders @ Rams, Bucs @ 49ers

Week 15: Cincinnati Bengals @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Sunday 4:25 pm ET)

THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN PRIMETIME! One of the reasons I was so glad to see Tom Brady unretire was so we would get at least one Burrow vs. Brady match in our lifetime. It's not as clear since he didn't win the Super Bowl, but Burrow has a real chance of becoming the next Brady or at least a Brady-esque talent in the NFL. He's had so much success already this earlier into his career and has a similar edge and swagger about him to a young Brady. I cannot WAIT to see the two of the dueling on every other drive and also how these two teams match up considering they are two of the best in the sport and both have great defenses and also amazing receiving cores. This game is stars galore and could be a potential Super Bowl preview too. This might be the game I'm MOST excited for all season. The talk leading up to this game is going to be so fun and so will the likely ensuing jersey swap.
Week 15 Honorable Mentions: 49ers @ Seahawks, Rams @ Packers, Cardinals @ Broncos

Week 16: Denver Broncos @ Los Angeles Rams (CHRISTMAS DAY 4:30 pm ET)

What a game we have on Christmas! These could be two of the top teams in the NFL in 2022 and a potential Super Bowl preview and they will be going at it in the beautiful SoFi stadium while everyone else is warm at home and watching. Russell Wilson will take on a familiar foe but in a different jersey for the first time in his career. He has struggled against the Rams for years so it will be interesting to see if he and his Broncos can get over the hump and out-duel Stafford and Donald for the Xmas W. This should have major playoff implications, especially for the loser.
Week 16 Honorable Mentions: Bengals @ Patriots, Eagles @ Cowboys, Chargers @ Colts

Week 17: Buffalo Bills @ Cincinnati Bengals (Monday Night Football)

What a major treat this late in the season. On MNF we get a battle of two of the best young teams in the AFC. This probably should have been the AFC championship game last year and it could very well be this year. The main draw with this game is the battle of the arguable two best young QBs in the AFC. Burrow vs Allen could be a debate for the next decade and this will be the first time they face off. Aside from them two, these are two elite supporting casts. How will the Bills top tier defense defend the Bengals All-World receiving core? How can the Bengals bend but don't break defense stop Josh Allen and his martian-like skillset? This game could genuinely decide the no. 1 seed in the AFC with a week to go in the year. Can't wait.
Week 17 Honorable Mentions: Rams *@* Chargers, Vikings @ Packers, Broncos @ Chiefs

Week 18: Denver Broncos @ Los Angeles Chargers (Time TBD)

The best game of the final week of the regular season is never really known until that week. There are always final game win and in kind of scenarios and this year really feels like it will be one of those years in a never-before-seenly loaded AFC. Speaking of loaded in the AFC, the AFC WEST! I doubt all 4 teams will be able to get in even though they are 4 of the best teams in the entire league. That makes each game within those serieses so important and so in week 18 we may see another Chargers divisional primetime game to determine who gets in and who doesn't. This game might be for first place in the division. Who knows? These are two amazing teams with amazing QBs and amazing supporting casts and I have a strong hunch this game will determine something for the playoffs. This match could set the table for a wild finish!
Week 18 Honorable Mentions: Cardinals @ 49ers, Ravens @ Bengals, Cowboys @ Commanders, Bills @ Patriots, Chiefs @ Raiders
